Yellow Cat Story 64 begins where Yellow’s birthday disappointment left off.
Yesterday, Yellow spent the day dreaming about presents, a special birthday feast, and perhaps even a surprise party.
What did Boss give him?
Ramen.
Yellow survived the emotional damage, but there was still one final possibility.
Black.
Surely Black had remembered his birthday.
Surely she had prepared something special.
So Yellow approached her with the cautious optimism of a cat who had already been disappointed once.
Black Looks Very Relaxed
There was one immediate problem.
Black did not exactly look like someone preparing a birthday surprise.
She was stretched out comfortably on the chair, completely relaxed.
Yellow, meanwhile, had been waiting all day.
Perhaps the present was hidden.
Perhaps Black was pretending not to care.
Maybe this was all part of an elaborate surprise.
Yellow had already demonstrated an impressive ability to dream big.
Why stop now?
Unfortunately, Black’s body language suggested there was no cake hidden behind the chair.
Yellow Waited All Day
Yellow tried to make his position clear.
He had been waiting.
All day.
It was his birthday, after all.
A reasonable cat might have lowered his expectations after receiving ramen from Boss.
Yellow is not a reasonable cat.
There was still hope that Black would rescue the birthday.
A present?
A special meal?
Maybe even a little affection?
Anything would do.
Well…
Almost anything.
The Birthday Investigation Ends
The longer Yellow stayed, the clearer the situation became.
There was no grand surprise waiting for him.
No secret birthday operation.
No beautifully wrapped present.
Black was simply Black.
Suddenly, yesterday’s bowl of ramen began to look surprisingly generous.
Funny how quickly standards change.
Twenty-four hours earlier, Yellow had looked at his birthday noodles and wondered where the real celebration was.
Now those same noodles were beginning to feel like luxury catering.
Yellow Reconsiders the Noodles
Yellow finally accepted reality.
His birthday dream had started with hopes of presents, a feast, and a party.
Boss gave him ramen.
Then Yellow went to Black hoping for something better.
That was his mistake.
After a moment of careful comparison, Yellow reached his final birthday verdict.
“I think I preferred the noodles.”
And with that, the great birthday celebration officially ended.
Yesterday, Yellow thought ramen was disappointing.
Today, he discovered something worse.
No ramen. 😹
