Yellow Cat Story 61: Boss, We Have a Problem
Yellow Cat Story 61 begins with Yellow waiting for Boss to come home.
“Boss! You’re finally home!”
That greeting sounds unusually enthusiastic.
Not because Yellow missed Boss.
Yellow has a complaint.
Again.
And this time, according to Yellow, the situation is much more serious than food, freedom, or privacy.
Black is now interfering with his professional life.
“Boss… she’s attacking my career now.”
Career?
Boss may need a moment to process that information.
When Did Yellow Get a Career?
This raises an important question.
When exactly did Yellow become a working professional?
Until recently, his schedule seemed to consist mainly of disappearing from home, visiting suspicious places, meeting mysterious ladies, and explaining everything afterward as “private business.”
Then, in Cat Story 60, Yellow upgraded the explanation.
Strictly business.
Apparently, the promotion was approved overnight.
Private business has now become a career.
Yellow has no office.
No business card.
No known customers.
And certainly no tax department.
But he has confidence.
For Yellow, that is apparently enough.
Black Is Attacking the Business
Yellow’s complaint is serious.
Black watches him.
Black questions him.
Black investigates where he goes and who he meets.
How can an ambitious businessman operate under such conditions?
Imagine trying to conduct important negotiations while your own private intelligence agency is following you from the ground and watching you from above.
Impossible.
Yellow is not asking Boss to interfere in a domestic argument.
He is asking Boss to protect the economy.
At least, that seems to be Yellow’s version.
Boss Reviews the Employment Record
Unfortunately, Boss knows some of Yellow’s recent history.
There was the Wine Bar Madam.
There was the Lipstick Girl.
There was the mysterious fox-like girl.
There were unexplained nights away from home.
And every investigation ended with approximately the same defense:
Private business.
Strictly business.
Now Yellow wants all of that officially recognized as professional experience.
That is an impressive résumé.
Just not necessarily the kind you show an employer.
Yellow Becomes a Professional
Black probably thought she was simply keeping an eye on Yellow.
She was wrong.
According to Yellow, she has interfered with a legitimate career.
This changes everything.
Yesterday, Yellow was defending his privacy.
Today, he is defending his profession.
At this rate, tomorrow he may ask Boss for an office, a company car, and an expense account for the wine bar.
Nobody knows exactly what Yellow does for a living.
But one thing is certain.
Yesterday it was strictly business.
Today, Yellow wants employee benefits. 😹
