A Night by the Pink Coast: Riding, Fishing and Camping

A Journey to Thailand’s Pink Coast

Lan Hin Chomphu Pink Coast is one of Chanthaburi’s most distinctive seaside destinations, where reddish-pink rocks meet the clear blue sea. This trip took me by Honda Cub to Lan Hin Chomphu, known as the Pink Coast, where reddish-pink rocks meet the clear blue sea.

The journey included a long ride through rural roads, setting up a simple tent near the coast, casting a fishing line from the rocks and watching the sun disappear over the water. I caught almost nothing, but the evening offered something better: cool sea air, a cold drink and the sound of waves continuing long after darkness arrived.

By morning, the coast had changed again. Under the bright sunlight, the pink rocks, green trees and transparent sea revealed the peaceful beauty that gives this place its name.

Riding Toward the Pink Coast

The journey began with the familiar sound of the Honda Cub and the quiet excitement of heading somewhere new. After a simple meal and a final check of the luggage, I returned to the road, leaving the busier streets behind.

The route gradually became quieter. Small communities, roadside shops and long stretches of rural road passed by as the Cub carried me toward the coast. Along the way, I met other riders traveling in different directions. We exchanged brief greetings before continuing our separate journeys.

Near the destination, the road narrowed and curved through the trees. I made a wrong turn for a short time, but even that became part of the journey. There was no need to rush. The sea was waiting somewhere beyond the forest.

When I finally arrived near Lan Hin Chomphu, I found a peaceful place beneath the trees and began unloading the motorcycle. The tent was small and simple, but it was enough for one night beside the sea.

Fishing and Camping by the Pink Coast

After setting up the tent, I walked toward the shoreline with my fishing rod. The coast was lined with reddish-pink rocks, shaped by the sea and weather over many years. Between the rocks, clear water moved gently in and out with the waves.

I found a quiet place and cast the line into the sea. There were no crowds, no loud voices and no reason to hurry. I simply waited, watching the water change with the afternoon light.

The fish were not interested that day. I moved to another spot and tried again, but the result was the same. Still, the lack of a catch did not feel like failure. Sitting on the rocks with the sea in front of me was already enough.

As the sun began to lower, warm orange light spread across the horizon. The pink rocks became darker, the sea turned golden, and the entire coast seemed to slow down.

A Quiet Night Beside the Sea

After fishing, I returned to the campsite and settled in for the evening. There was no large campfire and no complicated meal—only a simple dinner, a cold beer and the cool air coming from the sea.

As darkness covered the coast, the sounds of daytime slowly disappeared. The voices of visitors faded, the rocks became silhouettes, and only the steady rhythm of the waves remained.

Inside the small tent, I could still hear the sea clearly. The wind moved through the trees above me, and the distant lights along the coastline flickered between the branches. It was a simple night, but that simplicity made it memorable.

I had caught almost nothing, yet the day felt complete. The ride, the fishing, the sunset and the quiet camp beside the sea had given me more than I expected.

Morning Light at Lan Hin Chomphu Pink Coast

By early morning, the darkness had disappeared and the coast looked completely different. Soft sunlight spread across the sea, revealing the natural colors that had been hidden during the night.

The reddish-pink rocks stood out clearly beside the blue water. Small waves broke gently along their edges, while trees leaned toward the shoreline and cast moving shadows across the ground. In the quiet morning air, Lan Hin Chomphu felt calm and almost untouched.

I walked slowly along the coast, stopping whenever the view opened toward the sea. Each section looked slightly different—some places were covered with smooth pink stone, while others revealed small bays, trees and clear water between the rocks.

Leaving with the Sound of the Sea

Before packing the tent, I stood once more beside the water and looked across the quiet coast. Morning visitors had begun to arrive, but the atmosphere was still peaceful. The sunlight reflected from the sea, and the pink rocks seemed brighter than they had the evening before.

This journey was not about catching many fish or finding a luxurious campsite. It was about riding slowly, sleeping beside the sea and waking to a landscape shaped by stone, wind and waves.

Lan Hin Chomphu gave me one quiet night away from the noise of ordinary life. I left with almost nothing in my fishing bag, but with the memory of a golden sunset, a small tent under the trees and the sound of the sea continuing through the night.
