A Rare Day Away from the Office
The video below follows our company golf day from the first tee to the final dinner. It was a relaxed 25-minute round filled with missed shots, friendly competition, small bets, and plenty of laughter along the way.

Every now and then, it is good to leave the office behind and spend a day together in a completely different setting. This time, our company organized a friendly golf tournament, bringing twelve of us together for a round on one of Thailand’s pleasantly green courses.
We divided into three teams of four, and I found myself in the senior team together with our company president. It had been quite a while since I had last played golf, so I knew from the beginning that expecting a great score might be a little ambitious. Still, standing on the first tee under the open sky, surrounded by green fairways and familiar faces from work, the score already seemed less important.
Today was simply a chance to enjoy golf, good company, and a few hours away from our usual working day.
The Senior Team Takes the Course
Once the round began, it did not take long for me to realize how much practice I had missed. The other players settled into their games quite comfortably, while my shots seemed to have ideas of their own. A good swing would occasionally appear, only to be followed by another ball heading somewhere I had never intended.
But that was part of the fun. There was no need to take the competition too seriously. We encouraged good shots, laughed at the bad ones, and moved from hole to hole enjoying the relaxed atmosphere of the course.
For our senior team, experience did not necessarily mean a lower score. But at least we knew how to enjoy the day.

Golf, Bets, and No Profit
Of course, a company golf day becomes a little more interesting when a small bet is involved. Suddenly, a short putt feels more important, and everyone watches the ball just a little more carefully.
Unfortunately, the betting did not work in my favor. Money went out, but nothing came back. There would be no profit from golf for me today.
Still, looking across the peaceful fairways, it was difficult to complain. The weather was pleasant, the course was comfortable, and for a few hours there were no meetings, schedules, or office problems to think about.
Sometimes the best return from a round of golf has nothing to do with money.
More Than Just the Score
As the round continued, everyone became more relaxed. Some shots were impressive, some were ordinary, and a few were better forgotten. But between the swings, putts, and short rides to the next hole, there was plenty of laughter.
Golf has a way of bringing people together differently from the workplace. Titles and positions become less important, and for a while everyone is simply another player trying to send a small white ball in the right direction.
By the back nine, my score was no longer something I wanted to think about. The real enjoyment came from sharing the course, the conversation, and a good day with people I normally meet in a much more formal setting.
More than the score — a relaxed afternoon of golf, conversation, and good company away from the office.
The Final Hole and Dinner Together
Eventually, we reached the final hole and brought the tournament to an end. There was no memorable score or prize money waiting for me, but by then it hardly mattered. After several hours on the course, everyone had collected enough good shots, bad shots, jokes, and small stories to carry into the evening.
Later, all twelve players gathered again for dinner. The prizes were handed out, the winners were congratulated, and the competition quickly gave way to food, drinks, and conversation.
It was a simple company event, but days like this have their own value. We returned home without talking much about work, and with a few more shared memories than we had in the morning.

A Simple Day to Remember
Not every memorable day needs a long journey or a special destination. Sometimes, stepping away from work, spending a few hours outdoors, and sharing a meal with familiar people is enough.
I came home without prize money and without a score worth remembering. But I had enjoyed a beautiful course, plenty of laughter, and a good day with the people I work with.
And perhaps that was the best prize of all.
About the Golf Course
Our company golf day was held at Eastern Star Golf Center in Rayong, Thailand. Surrounded by wide fairways, tropical greenery, and palm trees, the course offered a pleasant setting for a relaxed round away from the office.
Rather than focusing only on the competition, the open landscape and peaceful atmosphere made it easy to enjoy the day at a slower pace — especially for someone returning to golf after a long break.
