The Birthday Complaint Begins
Yellow Cat Story 65 begins with Yellow still carrying the emotional damage from his birthday. No cake, no fancy meal, and worst of all, no birthday present.
Yellow was still carrying the emotional damage from his birthday.
No cake. No fancy meal. No beautifully wrapped present waiting under the table. In Yellow’s mind, this was not simply a disappointing birthday. It was a full-scale failure of household management.
He had expected Black to prepare something memorable.
Unfortunately, Black had remembered the birthday very differently.
Yellow Starts Dreaming Bigger
The more Yellow thought about it, the more unreasonable his expectations became.
Maybe Black had hidden a present somewhere.
A new collar would be acceptable.
A watch would be better.
But perhaps, Yellow thought, she had finally understood his true value and bought him something luxurious.
This was a dangerous direction for Yellow’s imagination.
Within seconds, the cat who had received almost nothing for his birthday was mentally shopping in the luxury section.
Black Has One Question
Black had been listening from behind him.
She did not argue about the birthday.
She did not explain why there was no expensive present.
She simply waited until Yellow had finished describing the luxury gift he clearly believed he deserved.
Then came one quiet question.
“If I bought you an expensive gift… who would you give it to?”
Suddenly, the entire birthday investigation changed direction.
This was no longer about Black forgetting a present.
This was now an investigation into Yellow’s romantic history.
And Yellow had far too many open cases.
The Luxury Gift Investigation
Yellow knew exactly why the question was dangerous.
There had been the wine bar.
There had been mysterious business trips.
There had been pretty new faces, suspicious phone calls, and several explanations that required far more imagination than evidence.
A luxury present in Yellow’s possession might not remain in Yellow’s possession for very long.
Black apparently understood this too.
She did not need witnesses, documents, or surveillance footage.
One question was enough.
Yellow’s complaint about his birthday gift suddenly disappeared.
So did his confidence.
In Yellow Cat Story 65, however, Black does not need a long investigation.
Yellow Chooses a Strategic Retreat
For a moment, Yellow had nothing to say.
No classified business.
No official report.
No speech about a man’s freedom.
He simply began moving away.
Perhaps he needed fresh air.
Perhaps he remembered an urgent appointment.
Or perhaps Yellow had finally discovered the one place where Black could not ask a second question.
Far away.
Yellow wanted a luxury birthday gift.
Black only wanted to know who would receive it next. 😹
