Black Waited Every Night
Yellow Cat Story 49 begins with Black lying quietly on the sofa, no longer angry enough to argue and too tired to ask another question.
She had believed Yellow would come back.
Not just return to the house, but truly come back—to the familiar sofa, the old routine, and the life they once shared.
So Black waited.
One night became another. Then another.
At first, waiting felt like hope.
Eventually, it began to feel heavy.
Home Does Not Feel the Same
Black remembers the simple words:
“I’m home.”
They used to mean something.
They meant the wandering was over, at least for the night. They meant the arguments could stop, dinner could begin, and the house was complete again.
Now the same room feels different.
The sofa is still there.
The food bowl is still there.
The wall is still there.
But home feels strangely empty when the cat you were waiting for has already given his attention to somewhere else.
Waiting Becomes the Hardest Part
Black finally understands that the waiting itself has become more painful than the absence.
Every sound near the wall makes her look up.
Every shadow creates one second of hope.
Every quiet night ends exactly the same way.
Nothing.
Black has spent so much time worrying about where Yellow is that she has forgotten how exhausting it is to wait for someone who may not be thinking about coming back.
For once, she does not blame the wine bar Madam, the Scarlet Lady, or one of Yellow’s mysterious business meetings.
She is simply tired.
It Must Have Been Love
Black looks ahead and finally says the words she has been avoiding:
“It must have been love… but it’s over now.”
There is no dramatic argument.
No interrogation.
No demand for an explanation.
Just acceptance.
That may be the saddest part.
For so long, Black’s love appeared as jealousy, questions, and endless surveillance from the wall.
Now the questions have stopped.
And silence has taken their place.
Even Cats Get Their Hearts Broken
Black settles deeper into the sofa.
Perhaps tomorrow she will be angry again.
Perhaps Yellow will suddenly appear with another impossible excuse.
Perhaps the whole story will begin again.
But tonight, Black has only one conclusion:
“Love hurts. Even for cats.”
Some wounds come from claws.
Others come from waiting.
