Yellow Builds a Romance from One Sentence
Yellow Cat Story 42 begins with a simple message from the wine bar Madam:
“She’ll come back.”
For most cats, that would be a vague promise with no date, no time, and no guarantee.
For Yellow, it is practically a confirmed reservation.
He immediately begins imagining the Scarlet Lady’s eyes, her voice, her perfume, and the little red cherry between her lips. One sentence is all Yellow needs to build an entire romance.
Every Sound Becomes Her Return
Yellow waits near the gate and watches the road.
A passing shadow could be her.
A bird landing nearby might be a sign.
A distant sound could be footsteps.
Each small movement gives Yellow new confidence. He tells himself she may appear at any moment, carrying the same mysterious smile he has replayed in his imagination all day.
The longer he waits, the more certain he becomes.
Reality, unfortunately, has not received the same schedule.
The Caribbean Problem
Then someone asks the question Yellow has carefully avoided:
“She’s sitting on the beach… thinking about you?”
Yellow pauses.
While he has been waiting beside the gate, the Scarlet Lady may be relaxing at a Caribbean resort with sunshine, sea views, and absolutely no urgent reason to return.
Yellow looks down the empty road once more.
Perhaps she is thinking about him.
Perhaps she is thinking about lunch.
Perhaps she has not thought about the neighborhood at all.
Still Waiting, Yellow?
Even after hearing the truth, Yellow does not leave.
He remains near the gate, watching every bird, shadow, and passing sound with stubborn romantic faith.
The Scarlet Lady may be thousands of kilometers away, but Yellow’s imagination has already brought her home several times.
Everyone else sees an empty road.
Yellow sees a delayed love story.
And so he waits.
