Yellow’s Deflated Heart
Yellow Cat Story 37 begins with Yellow stretched across the floor like a balloon that has lost all its air. He is not sleeping, resting, or planning another secret trip to the wine bar.
He is thinking.
Boss immediately becomes suspicious. Yellow usually avoids deep thought unless dinner, danger, or a mysterious lady is involved. But this time, even his ears look tired.
Something has clearly gone wrong—and for once, Yellow’s problem cannot be solved with a fresh piece of fish.
A Hero Meets Heartbreak
Yellow finally admits that love has become dangerous business. The same cat who confidently survives Black’s interrogations, suspicious perfume investigations, and failed rescue missions now lies defeated by a problem he cannot argue with.
Boss reminds him that even heroes lose sometimes. Yellow accepts this wisdom quietly, although he would prefer the word “temporary setback.”
After all, a neighborhood legend does not get rejected. He simply experiences an unexpected delay in romance.
Boss Offers the Wrong Kind of Comfort
Boss tries to help with a little wisdom. A bruised face will heal, he explains, but a broken heart may take much longer.
It is probably meant to be comforting.
Unfortunately, Yellow hears only two things: everyone noticed his bruised face, and now everyone also knows about his broken heart.
His ears turn toward Boss with the exhausted expression of a cat who has already suffered enough for one day.
Yellow Has Heard Enough
Boss continues, ready to offer one more lesson about love, courage, and recovery. Yellow immediately turns his head.
“…Could you not tell me that right now?”
He did not ask for philosophy. He wanted sympathy, silence, and perhaps a small snack delivered without questions.
Boss finally stops talking. Yellow settles back onto the floor, still heartbroken but now slightly more annoyed than sad.
Sometimes that is progress.
