Thonburi Chronicle Korean Translation — Part 65

The chronicle follows Taksin’s escape from Ayutthaya, his campaign through the eastern provinces, and the formation and rule of the Thonburi kingdom. It continues through military campaigns, royal decisions, unrest at court, and the transition at the end of the Thonburi period. The volume also preserves royal orders and elephant registers that add documentary detail to the narrative.

About this Korean translation

Names and place names are rendered phonetically from Thai. Where the source is damaged or a reading is uncertain, the translation marks that uncertainty rather than silently filling the gap. The chronicle and diary are presented as historical records: their accounts should be read in the context of the source and compared with other evidence where needed.

How to Read the Records and PDF Page Links

The chronicle and the campaign diary offer two different ways to understand the Thonburi period. Part 65 presents events as a historical narrative, while Part 66 records military orders, movements, and reports day by day. The official document copies and royal elephant register provide additional context for the administration of the kingdom.
