Day Two Without Black
Stray Cat–4 begins two days after Black walked away.
Yellow stayed near the gate, watching every sound and every shadow. He no longer had excuses. No flirting, no wandering, and no pretending that nothing had happened.
For the first time, he seemed to understand how lonely the house felt without her.
All he could do was wait and whisper,
“Black… please come home.”
Waiting at the Gate
Every time a sound came from outside, Yellow lifted his head.
Was it Black’s footsteps?
Was she finally coming back?
But the gate stayed closed.
He sat there quietly, realizing that waiting was much harder than walking away.
The house had never felt this quiet before. Without Black nearby, even the familiar sounds of the evening seemed different. Yellow began to understand that her presence had filled the small spaces of his everyday life—spaces he had barely noticed until they became empty.
No More Excuses
Yellow had always found a reason for everything.
He was only looking around.
He was only talking to another cat.
He would come home later.
But this time, none of those excuses mattered.
Black was gone, and Yellow finally understood that trust could not be repaired with words alone.
He remembered all the times Black had waited for him without complaining. She had trusted that he would return, but Yellow had treated that trust as something permanent. Now he understood that patience could run out, even when love remained.
Stray Cat–4: A Quiet Promise
Yellow lowered his head and stared at the empty gate.
If Black returned, he would not waste another chance. He would stay close, behave better, and stop giving her reasons to leave.
For now, it was only a silent promise.
A promise Black had not yet heard.
Will Black Come Home?
The evening grew quiet, but Yellow refused to leave the gate.
Perhaps Black was still angry.
Perhaps she was waiting to see whether he had truly changed.
Yellow did not know when she would return.
He only knew that this time, he would keep waiting.
Because some mistakes cannot be fixed by chasing someone.
Sometimes, all you can do is stay—and hope they choose to come back.
What Yellow Finally Learned
Yellow finally understood that love was not only about coming home.
It was about giving someone a reason to stay.
Black had waited for him many times before, but he had taken her patience for granted. Now the empty space beside the gate showed him what his careless behavior had cost.
Whether Black returned or not, Yellow knew one thing.
He could not remain the same cat he had been before.
In Stray Cat–4, Yellow’s long wait becomes more than a sad moment at the gate. It becomes the first sign that he may finally understand how deeply his choices hurt Black.
