Simple beach camping does not always begin with a detailed plan. This one began with a simple wish—to leave the busy world behind and spend a quiet night beside the sea.
With a Honda Cub, a small tent, and just enough food for dinner, we arrived at the beach before sunset. There was nothing luxurious waiting for us—only the sound of the waves, the evening breeze, and time to enjoy being together.
Leaving the Busy World Behind
Camping gives us a reason to slow down. After the ride, the first task was simply to choose a comfortable place, unload the motorcycle, and prepare our small home for the night.
As the tent went up, the rhythm of the day began to change. There were no schedules to follow and nowhere else we needed to be. The beach, the sea, and the fading afternoon light were enough.
Cooking by the Sea
Dinner was simple, but food always tastes different outdoors. We prepared the ingredients together at a small table while the waves rolled onto the shore just a short distance away.
There was no restaurant service and no perfect kitchen—only a portable stove, fresh ingredients, and two people sharing the work. Cooking slowly beside the sea became one of the best moments of the trip.
Just Us and Simple Moments
The most memorable part of this beach camping trip was not a spectacular event. It was sitting together, eating a simple meal, and talking while the sea breeze moved around our little campsite.
These ordinary moments are easy to overlook in daily life. Out here, without traffic, television, or a long list of things to do, a quiet dinner together felt like something special.
A Quiet Night by the Water
When darkness arrived, the campsite became quieter. The lights around the tent softened the night, and the sound of the waves replaced the noise of everyday life.
Beach camping is not always completely comfortable. Sand gets everywhere, the wind changes, and small problems appear without warning. But those imperfections are part of the experience. They remind us that we are visitors in nature, not guests in a hotel.
Morning by the Sea
Morning arrived gently with pale light over the water. Waking beside the beach, listening to the waves, and breathing the cool morning air made the previous day’s effort feel worthwhile.
There was no need to hurry. We could make a warm drink, walk along the shore, and watch the campsite slowly come back to life. It was a simple beginning to the day, but one that is difficult to find in the city.
Why Simple Beach Camping Matters
This trip reminded us that camping does not need to be expensive or complicated. A reliable motorcycle, basic equipment, simple food, and a safe place to sleep can be enough to create a meaningful journey.
For us, simple beach camping in Thailand is a way to pause, reconnect, and appreciate the time we share. We may return home with sand on our clothes and tired bodies, but our minds feel lighter than before.

Location: Khao Laem Ya, Rayong, Thailand
Setting: Seaside national park campground with coastal views
Best time to visit: Clear, dry weather with light winds
Bring your own tent, sleeping equipment, cooking supplies, drinking water, and lighting. As this campground is inside a national park, entrance fees, camping charges, operating hours, and cooking rules may change. Check the latest information with park staff before setting up camp.
Wild monkeys may enter the campground and steal unattended food. Keep all food inside closed containers or bags, never leave it on the table, and do not feed the monkeys.
Take all rubbish to the designated collection area and leave the campsite as clean as you found it. Coastal wind and sudden rain can be strong, so secure the tent and tarp carefully.

What We Brought Home
We packed the tent, loaded the Honda Cub, and left the beach with less food and a little more sand than we had brought. Nothing extraordinary had happened, yet the trip remained in our memory.
Perhaps that is what simple beach camping gives us: not a grand adventure, but a quiet reminder that a good meal, the sound of the sea, and time with someone we care about can be enough.
