Black Finally Comes Home
Yellow Cat Story 72 begins with Black returning after being away for several days.
Madam is relieved to see her and immediately asks where she has been.
Black explains that she was embarrassed to wander around the neighborhood after everything that happened, so she spent time near the church instead.
She prayed.
She joined the choir.
She tried to calm herself down.
For a moment, it sounds like Black has finally found peace.
Peace Lasts About Thirty Seconds
Madam cannot resist asking about Church Guy.
Black immediately lowers her voice.
That subject, apparently, is private.
She says she is allowed to have a few secrets too.
Then she looks outside.
Yellow is sitting on the wall.
Waiting.
Watching.
Possibly planning something.
Black has been home for less than a minute, but her investigation instincts return instantly.
Madam points this out.
Black does not care.
Thirty seconds is enough time to reopen a case.
Black Still Believes
Later, Black takes a break while Yellow remains on the wall.
Madam returns to the subject Black would rather avoid.
Church Guy.
Does Black really think things are going well?
From Madam’s point of view, he does not seem especially interested.
Black strongly disagrees.
When she prays, she says, he sometimes looks at her.
During choir practice, she believes he sends signals.
To Black, this is evidence.
The Door Code Problem
Madam asks whether Black finally learned Church Guy’s door code.
Not exactly.
Black admits that his house gets plenty of visitors.
And apparently, she has been told to stay away.
Madam pauses.
That sounds less like romance and more like a restraining order.
Most people might take this as a clear message.
Black does not.
She simply wonders whether the rules may have changed.
Hope, apparently, is stronger than security instructions.
Everybody Has Private Business
Yellow calls his adventures “private business.”
Black now has secrets of her own.
She watches Yellow from a distance while quietly building an entire romantic theory around glances during prayer and signals during choir practice.
Neither one accepts the obvious explanation.
That may be why they understand each other better than either would ever admit.
Black came home to rest.
Within minutes, she was watching Yellow again and planning another Church Guy investigation.
Maybe the rules changed. 😹
