The Fried Shrimp Incident
Yellow Cat Story 66 begins with Yellow coming home after one of the worst romantic investments of his life.
His dignity, perhaps.
According to Yellow, the wine bar madam had promised to introduce him to a pretty new girl. Naturally, Yellow treated this as serious business. He even arrived carrying expensive fried shrimp, convinced that good food and good intentions would open the door to romance.
Unfortunately, the shrimp disappeared faster than Yellow’s confidence.
The madam accepted the food, then spent her time laughing and talking with another man and the new girl. Yellow waited nearby, expecting at least one grateful glance.
He got almost nothing.
One Look Was Enough
What bothered Yellow most was not the lost shrimp.
It was the girl.
She had looked at him once.
Only once.
For a normal cat, that might mean nothing. For Yellow, it was enough evidence to begin building an entire romantic future.
By the time he explained the story to Boss, Yellow was no longer simply angry with the madam. He was also deeply suspicious of the mysterious man who had received far more attention than he had.
This had become personal.
Boss Identifies the Competition
Boss listened patiently while Yellow presented his case.
Then came one small detail.
Wasn’t that man the owner of a tuna can company?
Suddenly, Yellow’s romantic disaster had an economic explanation.
He had arrived with fried shrimp.
His rival apparently had access to an industrial supply of tuna.
For Yellow, this was no longer a fair fight.

Yellow became even more upset.
How was one ordinary cat supposed to compete against a man with unlimited tuna?
Perhaps the problem had never been his personality.
Perhaps it was not the wine bar madam.
Perhaps it was not even the pretty new girl.
Maybe Yellow had simply entered the dating market with the wrong seafood.
The fried shrimp had seemed impressive when he bought it.
Now it looked like a very poor investment.
Unlimited Tuna Wins
Yellow had prepared himself for romance.
He had brought food, waited patiently, and even survived the humiliation of being ignored.
But in the end, Boss had identified the real problem.
Yellow brought fried shrimp.
The other guy brought the whole tuna business. 😹
