Black’s Very Long Bible Study
Yellow Cat Story 43 begins with Black finally returning after being away for several days. Yellow immediately wants an explanation.
Black answers calmly: she was studying the Bible with the church guy.
That sounds respectable.
Then Yellow asks how long the study lasted.
Several days.
And whether anyone else was there.
No one.
Suddenly, the lesson becomes far more interesting.
Yellow Discovers a Double Standard
Black has spent weeks questioning Yellow about wine bars, perfume, lipstick, late nights, and suspicious sofas.
Now Yellow finally has a case of his own.
He repeats the details carefully:
Black stayed with the church guy.
They were alone.
The study continued for several days.
Black insists that nothing improper happened. It was spiritual, serious, and completely innocent.
Yellow looks almost delighted.
For once, he is not the suspect.
The Church Guy’s Private Retreat
Black explains that the church guy needed help understanding difficult passages. One chapter became two, two became several, and before long the Bible study had turned into a full retreat.
Yellow listens with growing suspicion.
He has used many excuses in his life, but even he has never claimed that one conversation required several nights.
Black reminds him that faith requires patience.
Yellow replies that apparently it also requires overnight accommodation.
Yellow Begins the Interrogation
Yellow asks whether they prayed.
Black says yes.
Did they eat together?
Yes.
Did they sleep in the same house?
Black pauses.
That pause tells Yellow more than the answer.
He suddenly understands why Black enjoys interrogations so much. Asking questions is far more entertaining when someone else has to answer them.
Several Suspicious Days
Yellow finally summarizes the situation:
“You two studied the Bible… alone… for several days?”
Black goes silent.
A small heart appears, making the explanation even less convincing.
Yellow has no proof, no witness, and no photograph. But after surviving so many of Black’s investigations, he knows exactly what to say next:
“Interesting.”
For the first time, Black understands how Yellow feels.
The Bible may teach forgiveness.
Yellow, however, has learned interrogation.
